The
driest summer on record struck Yellowstone County in 2012. In the wake of one of the worst
wildfire years in memory, Yellowstone County Commissioners announced Firefighter Appreciation Day October 30 at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark.
More than 600 volunteer firefighters from Yellowstone, Mussellshell, Carbon and Stillwater Counties are being invited to attend a dinner in their honor. The dinner will honor the volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the area fighting the wildfires that exploded this summer in Roundup, the Crow Reservation, Lame Deer, and Eagle Creek.
Joining the commissioners and the counties' Departments of Emerency Services in the recognition dinner are sponsorships from Peterbilt, Costco, ExxonMobil, Sam’s Club, Sysco, Wal-Mart, Cabela’s, RDO Equipment, Archie Cochrane Ford, BNSF, and KGHL Radio.
A special fund has been created to provide money to cover the cost of the recognition dinner. Checks may be made payable to Yellowstone County.
